C6 have made a wonderful start to the term, with most children present, happy, and ready to learn. At this time of the year, the new learning is based on new routines and new expectations, in a different class. We have played with bubbles twice this week, but the photos are still coming, (sorry) as the i-Pads are off being serviced.
Thank you to all the parents who have already purchased stationery, so that we have already started work in our Writing books.
I have assessed each child for their Maths strategy stage (solving) and we have started learning the independent Maths activities.
Today Reading books went home, and I hope to hear each child read over the next week, to confirm their correct Reading level. Often children will drop back over the holidays, but then suddenly catch up, and start to move forward again. All reading is good practice. It is important that they can talk about the story, and the reading sounds smooth.
I have also tested the children and started everyone on Spelling List 1. They might bring the book home to practice on the weekend. Please don't write anything in the Spelling Notebook. Practice on scrap paper, or a whiteboard.
It has been great to meet so many of you this week. If we have not met yet, don't forget the invitation to come along on Tuesday 9th 3-15 - 5.30, and we can catch-up then.
Term 4
In Term 4 our topic is "Bugs, Spiders and Butterflies," we are learning more about small creatures in our world.
Our values focus this term is Pride. We will show pride in our work, our learning and progress, and we will do our best.
This term Matua Mark will be working alongside Mrs Caudwell in C6.
Swimming has started. We will swim five days a week in weeks 5, 7, and 9. The children all need to bring tags and a towel in a plastic bag, even if it is wet. It may be fine by the time we swim just after 12N.
Glenholme School Values
Our Glenholme School Values are respect, responsibility, pride, honesty, and a go-for-it attitude. You will see us trying our best to show these values in our learning, in class, and in the playground.
